Honestly, any age group could make this craft but with the little ones you may want to simplify the embellishments.

I call this Spring's Gate. It may embellished with spring decor or Easter decor. This example will use Easter Decor but please know that you can change it how you like. Be creative!

Spring's Gate

Materials Needed:

7 Popcicle Sticks

Craft Glue

Easter Embellishments (Will explain more later)

Acrylic Paints (Your choice of colors)

Small Paintbrush - optional (Will be needed for painting detail)

Medium Paintbrush (Will be used to paint gate)

Silk Flowers - optional (Will explain more later)

Spring Colored Ribbon or Raffia

Instructions:

Place 5 popcicle sticks vertically on your workspace. They should be about 1/2 inch apart. Then glue the remaining 2 popcicle sticks laying horizontally across the 5 vertical popcicle sticks. Remember, it should create a picket fence look.

Once glue is dry then paint your gate your desired color. Since we are going for the picket fence look you may want to paint it white. But other pastel colors would be pretty also.

With another color paint that goes well with the chosen color of your fence you may want to add some depth to your fence. To do this. Lightly dip your paintbrush into your other color paint (something different than your fence). Then wipe your paint onto a napkin to get most of the paint off of your brush. Then with your paintbrush just lightly go around the edges of each fence post to create a more realistic look.

Now for the Easter embellishments.

If small children are making this then they can make Easter Eggs out of construction paper.

But if an adult is making this then you may want to consider going to a local craft shop and looking in the "miniatures" section. You know, the various miniatures are usually close to where they have the miniature furniture that goes in dollhouses.

Anyway, look for miniature Easter eggs. They may even have a little rabbit that you like.

You may consider buying straw colored grass also. I'll explain more in just a minute.

Also, you may want to consider buying small silk flowers if you don't want to paint flowers. If you want to paint the flowers you will need the small paintbrush to paint details. Remember the flowers should be size appropriate for your fence.

Now glue your Easter eggs where you would like on the fence. Normally they may be glued at the bottom of the fence. But hey this is YOUR creation. Make it how you wish.

Glue your other embellishments also.

Now with the straw colored grass you may just want to glue a little patch of grass around the Easter eggs to make them look as though they are in grass.

Make a bow with either the Spring colored ribbon or raffia and glue to your fence. You may want to consider placing it in the upper corner of your fence.

Spring's Gate reminds us the beauty and colors of Spring or Easter!

Brandi also has blogs on Craft Ideas, Father's Day Craft Ideas, Mother's Day Craft Ideas, Craft Tips, Easy Kid's Craft Ideas, 4th of July Craft Ideas

Easter Craft Ideas - What Are You Looking For?

Hi! I hope everything is going well for you. I have been one busy little bee. I've been trying to finish up a few crafts and have considered making some Mother's Day Gift Baskets. I'm not sure if there is much interest though. If you were to buy a Mother's Day Gift Basket what would you like to see in it? Would you like to see a basket with a craft that I've made and skin care products? Or do you have other suggestions? Post a comment and let me know what you think. By no means does that commit you to buy one. I just want to know what people would like.

Sunday, I went to a Houston Astros game. It was so much fun! I ate a hotdog, french fries, and a coke and the Astros won! Does life get any better?

Anyway, I wanted to make this post to let you know that if there is a specific Easter craft idea that you are looking for then post a comment and let me know. I check for comments etc. all throughout the day so you will get a rather fast response. With Easter just a few days away if you can't find something that you're looking for I will be happy to try to help. Just let me know.

-Brandi

Easter Craft Ideas

Easter Craft Ideas

I just wanted to show you this Easter Pin I made.

You can order it for $5 by clicking here Shipping is free to those in the continental United States.

Easter Craft Ideas

Easter Craft Ideas

Easter Craft Idea - Fabric Patch Egg

I'm sorry that I haven't been able to place pictures on this blog yet, but I'm still working on it. I've been rather busy crafting, and just haven't had a chance to upload them but I promise I will.

I still want to keep this blog updated with fun craft ideas for Easter so hopefully you will enjoy this next craft. I call it "Fabric Patches." This will be great for those of you have extra scraps of fabric laying around.

Materials Needed:

Fabric scraps in spring colors (solid or print)
Styrofoam eggs;
Fabric glue
Ribbon or lace (for trim)
Clear Acrylic spray

Cut fabric scraps into small squares or triangles.

Cover the entire egg in the fabric scraps and be sure to overlap the fabric pieces. This gives it that patchwork look.

Make sure egg is completely dry. Then spray with the clear acrylic spray. Allow to dry again.

Glue on trim in whichever way you like. There is some really pretty trim now so don't just limit yourself to lace.

Now if you want to be able to hang the egg, loop ribbon and glue to egg. Or if you don't want to hang it just place the eggs in a basket. (But I'm sure you've heard of that saying "Don't place all of your eggs in one basket!")

I hope you enjoy!

Brandi also has blogs on Craft Ideas, Father's Day Craft Ideas, Mother's Day Craft Ideas, Craft Tips, Easy Kid's Craft Ideas, 4th of July Craft Ideas

Easter Craft Idea

Easter Craft Ideas

Easter Craft Ideas - Be Sure To Subscribe

Hey, I just wanted to let you know that I will be adding pictures to this blog. When eggs are completely dry, then cover the entire egg with spray varnish to protect it.

Place these in a nice basket on your tabletop and you have a basket of nature!

Brandi also has blogs on Craft Ideas, Mother's Day Craft Ideas, Father's Day Craft Ideas, 4th of July Craft Ideas, Easy Kid's Craft Ideas, Craft Tips

Easter Craft Ideas

Easter Craft Ideas

Easter Craft Ideas - How To Make an Easter Tree

I know, I know. You may be thinking "What? An Easter Tree? Is she crazy?" OK, yes I'm crazy but that's beside the point. The Easter Tree is still a neat idea.

How To Make An Easter Tree

Materials Needed:

One branch (yes...you'll have to go outside) Try to make sure it has quite a few small branches coming from it.

Pot for planting your branch (size of pot will depend on size of branch)

Plaster of Paris

Desired Crafting Supplies for creating ornaments

Mix the plaster of paris and pour into your chosen pot. Pour until plaster is about 1 inch from the top of the pot. Place your branch in the pot and try to prop the branch against something so that it will stay straight until the plaster of paris dries.

Now this is where the creativity comes in. If you are doing this with kids then allow them to create Easter ornaments by making Easter eggs or other Spring embellishments out of construction paper and hanging the ornaments on the tree with yarn.

If this is more for adults then you may want to get more creative by covering styrofoam shaped eggs in spring time fabric and hanging on the tree. Also, you can buy wooden and paper mache eggs at most craft stores, and paint them as desired.

This Easter tree could be as big or small as you like. If you wanted to make a bunch of small Easter trees then just buy small pots and use smaller branches.

Brandi also has blogs on Craft Ideas, Mother's Day Craft Ideas, Father's Day Craft Ideas, 4th of July Craft Ideas, Easy Kid's Craft Ideas, Craft Tips

Easter Craft Ideas

Easter Craft Ideas

Crafting With The Family

On Monday, my cousin came from Arkansas to visit and she brought her two kids, ages 8 and 10. I had planned on taking them to the local zoo (no not to stay, just to visit!) but naturally, it started raining.

Of course, with an 8 and 10 year old, entertainment is a necessity. I do have a lot of craft supplies but didn't really figure the kids cared anything about making a Red Hat Society Gift. So I checked out a really neat life saver (at least for me it was with entertaining the kids) that you may want to see by clicking here.

Anyway, I was so glad to see this! I was able to sit the kids down with their mom and we all made crafts! I didn't even need to use much of my craft supplies because some things were made from things just laying around the house.

The kids really enjoyed being able to let their imagination run wild with their craft.

All in all, it was a good visit. They are gone to see their grandma now, but we truly had a great time.

Brandi also has blogs on Craft Ideas, Mother's Day Craft Ideas, Father's Day Craft Ideas, and 4th of July Craft Ideas.

Craft Ideas

Easter Craft Ideas

Easter Craft Ideas - Chick In A Basket

(Singing) Here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail...But wait a minute! What about the precious, adorable, cute little fuzzy chick that sometimes gets overlooked as an Easter friend? Here is a fun craft for you to make with your kids that is sure to bring creativity, and whimsy to life.

How to make a Chick In A Basket:

Materials Needed:

One Large Yellow Pom Pom Orange Construction Paper Black Construction Paper One Section From an Egg Carton One Pipe Cleaner Glue Other Embellishments (Optional)

Instructions Glue the yellow pom pom into the section cut from the egg carton. (Like it's sitting in a basket)

Create a beak using the orange construction paper and glue to the yellow pom pom.

Create eyes using the black construction paper and glue those to the yellow pom pom.

Glue the pipe cleaner so that it creates a handle for the basket. You may want to use small clothespins to hold the pipe cleaner onto the "basket" until the glue dries. Even a paper clip would do the job.

You may choose to embellish the "basket" with beads, paper in a variety of colors, glitter, small silk flowers, or ribbons.

Now you have created a Chick In A Basket! Children are sure to love this fun, "feathered" friend. These are great to make with your kids, in a classroom, or church functions.

Easter Craft Ideas

Easter Craft Ideas

Easter Craft Ideas - Welcome

I will be posting a variety of Easter craft ideas.
