Easter Craft Ideas - Spring's Gate
This next Easter Craft Idea can be for older kids or adults. Honestly, any age group could make this craft but with the little ones you may want to simplify the embellishments.
I call this Spring's Gate. It may embellished with spring decor or Easter decor. This example will use Easter Decor but please know that you can change it how you like. Be creative!
Spring's Gate
Materials Needed:
7 Popcicle Sticks
Craft Glue
Easter Embellishments (Will explain more later)
Acrylic Paints (Your choice of colors)
Small Paintbrush - optional (Will be needed for painting detail)
Medium Paintbrush (Will be used to paint gate)
Silk Flowers - optional (Will explain more later)
Spring Colored Ribbon or Raffia
Instructions:
Place 5 popcicle sticks vertically on your workspace. They should be about 1/2 inch apart. Then glue the remaining 2 popcicle sticks laying horizontally across the 5 vertical popcicle sticks. Remember, it should create a picket fence look.
Once glue is dry then paint your gate your desired color. Since we are going for the picket fence look you may want to paint it white. But other pastel colors would be pretty also.
With another color paint that goes well with the chosen color of your fence you may want to add some depth to your fence. To do this. Lightly dip your paintbrush into your other color paint (something different than your fence). Then wipe your paint onto a napkin to get most of the paint off of your brush. Then with your paintbrush just lightly go around the edges of each fence post to create a more realistic look.
Now for the Easter embellishments.
If small children are making this then they can make Easter Eggs out of construction paper.
But if an adult is making this then you may want to consider going to a local craft shop and looking in the "miniatures" section. You know, the various miniatures are usually close to where they have the miniature furniture that goes in dollhouses.
Anyway, look for miniature Easter eggs. They may even have a little rabbit that you like.
You may consider buying straw colored grass also. I'll explain more in just a minute.
Also, you may want to consider buying small silk flowers if you don't want to paint flowers. If you want to paint the flowers you will need the small paintbrush to paint details. Remember the flowers should be size appropriate for your fence.
Now glue your Easter eggs where you would like on the fence. Normally they may be glued at the bottom of the fence. But hey this is YOUR creation. Make it how you wish.
Glue your other embellishments also.
Now with the straw colored grass you may just want to glue a little patch of grass around the Easter eggs to make them look as though they are in grass.
Make a bow with either the Spring colored ribbon or raffia and glue to your fence. You may want to consider placing it in the upper corner of your fence.
Spring's Gate reminds us the beauty and colors of Spring or Easter!
